Mega Pink Party
Hope you are all well and FLOURISHING!
Just a little reminder that we have a Global Sisterhood focus for the month of October about the issue of breast cancer! So many of us have close family or friends who have been affected by this disease. As our mandate to be our sister's keeper, it is imperative that as women we get involved in the fight against breast cancer and support those in our world that are suffering from it.
Globally there are over 1 million new cases of breast cancer diagnosed annually. Included in this number are over 12,000 in Australia, over 45,000 in the UK and over 190,000 per year in the USA. These are our mothers, sisters, daughters, cousins, neighbours, nurses, teachers, social workers... the women that we do life with every day, every week, every year!
In 2011 the Sisterhood is combining in October to make a difference for women experiencing breast cancer. Whether you run a fundraiser for the one of the "pink organisations" to raise funds for research into finding a cure or support programs; or run a community event to increase awareness in your local neighbourhood or even just be a friend to a neighbour experiencing breast cancer - we want the Sisterhood to combine our strength in a local capacity.
GET INVOLVED
There are so many ways you can get involved this month, so if you are passionate about being your sisters keeper find a place that you can contribute:
• PRAY - The most useful and impacting thing that we can do as a Sisterhood is pray. With this in mind we have put together a plan for 4 weeks of prayer which is available on our website and will also be loaded onto the @ColourSistahood twitter each week so that you can join with us in prayer.
• AWARENESS & FUNDRAISING – There are many ideas for hosting or running a MEGA PINK PARTY on our website. Click here to for a fact sheet to give you some ideas to get you started.
• SUPPORT – This is where we as SISTERHOOD can come into our element. Whether it be supporting a person you already know in your community facing breast cancer or simply lending your support to an organization that provides assistance – find where you can be SISTERHOOD in this area.
Please be mindful of your local church vision and commit to where they are putting their strength and heart! Our hope always is that this should be an "above and beyond" endeavour where we can help to mobilise people to be generous - your friends/families or workplace and local community.
SHARE YOUR STORY
Whatever way you decide to get involved, be sure to let us know so we can cheer you on. Email us to submit a testimony so we know what you are doing and can pray for and with you! ALSO – anyone running a MEGA PINK PARTY – let us know and we will be putting all of these events on our website so that we can show a great testimony of what can be accomplished as we all work together!
Thank you always for choosing to be a part of the solution, for coming alongside and believing that we together can make a difference.
Love always,
Bobbie (and the Colour Sisterhood)
