The Facts

1992

Marilyn and Gary Skinner founded Watoto Child Care Ministries in 1992, in response to the AIDS crisis confronting East Africa.

Watoto created ‘child care villages’ placing eight children and one widow ‘mother’ in each home. The houses consist of three bedrooms, a kitchen, living area and bathroom with clean running water and provide holistic care to the children that live in these homes.

2005

The Colour Sisterhood has been partnering with Watoto since 2005 raising significant funds to support and ex- pand the work of Watoto in Uganda.

The Need

One of Watoto’s current goals is to ensure the health of the mothers of their villages so that they in turn can raise the children in their ‘family’ well. This year THE COLOUR SISTEHOOD is turning our attention to the need for optical consultations and eye-glasses for the mums whose eye-sights are failing.

The total cost of providing optical consultations and eye-glasses for all the Watoto mums whose require this is approximately AUD $19,000.

Our Response

As a SISTERHOOD, we are looking to raise funds to meet this need. You can become involved by raising the funds for one of the following projects.
